Places.com makes it easier to locate places, find out more about them, remember them, get directions, post pictures, and attach notes for reference later. Places.com remembers important place specific details, keeping you organized and saving you time.
To find out about a place, you need to reach the map screen of the place. From the map screen, you can see a map to the place, see what’s nearby, read what Google and Yelp have to say about the place, get directions, call the place, email the place’s location to someone or save it in your database.
There are several ways to get to a map screen depending on what you’re looking for and where you are. The following picture illustrates how to reach a map screen and the map screen functions.
Places.com uses the geocoordinates of the place to retrieve most information. It uses your geolocation to determine the map and directions from your current location to the place.
Finding a Place
Most of the times to find out about a place you start from the Places page.
|This is a screen capture. Click black bar on right to open working web app.
From the Places page you find out about a place by:
1. Tapping the (My Location) button.

3. Tapping a place on the places page from your personal database.
For more on finding a place, see the Find a Place section.
The map screen provides access to all the information available about the place you selected.
The screen shot on the left shows an example map screen.
The rows of gray buttons are map screen functions associated with this location.
Tapping the Address reveals the private check-in history and notes for the place.
The buttons available depend on how much information is available about the place and how far away it is from your current location.
For more information, see the Map Screen section.

The total travel distance is shown as 38 miles from start to finish.
Driving time (only) would be about 1 and 1/2 hours. You need to add how much time you spend at each place because this estimate assumes zero stopover time.
If the travel mode (in Preferences) is set to bicycling or walking, the travel time parameter will indicate Bicycling or Walking instead of Driving.
The map displays each point in order of visit.
Tapping the left edge of a place displays a map and turn-by-turn traveling directions to the next place. For more information on entering and following a route, see the Shortest Route section.
